Project-X was an Amiga shooter released in 1992 by Worms publisher Team 17. The game was very successful in Europe and now has the chance to live again thanks to a new remaster being developed for Steam by Marcin Krupinski. Project-X: Light Years takes everything great about the original title and adds modern graphics, smooth animations, and enhanced controls.
Those familiar with the original release will remember the great boss fights as well as the excellent gameplay that helped this become a classic Amiga shmup. The multiplayer mode has been left in as has the power-up system. The developer has explained that they wish to “preserve the original essence while introducing fresh mechanics and modernizing it for a brand-new audience and loyal fans alike.”
The crowdfunding campaign is still looking for funding and has a few days to run. There are plenty of options to get involved in the project as the Kickstarter project has options to be credited in the game as well as design your own enemy waves for certain levels. There is also a vinyl soundtrack being produced for those who want to relive those memories of blasting aliens in the dark.
