Shadow Gangs coming to Dreamcast

I sound like a broken record but we have yet another Dreamcast title on Kickstarter! Shadow Gangs is an action platformer first released on Steam before making its way to Xbox and Switch. Developed by JKM Corp this game pays homage to the classic arcade games such as Rolling Thunder and Shinobi. Set for release next year the development team have taken the crowd funding route with physical and digital versions. For the collectors out there an artbook and OST are available as well.

A YouTube video showing an early build of the game has been released and Shadow Gangs is shaping up nicely. Set across ten levels with six bosses you play as Dan who is a Ninja Order Master. The game plays very similar to Rolling Thunder with respawning enemies and platforms to switch between as you progress. Shinobi style melee attacks are also used to defeat enemies who get close. There are devilish jumps to overcome and ninja friends to rescue in order to progress through the levels.

Shadow Gangs is a tough cookie just like the games it takes its inspiration from. Hopefully the high difficulty is kept in tact for the Dreamcast port and gives us a real challenge. It was not so long ago when every new indie release for the system was a shooter. However, Following the success of Intrepid Izzy earlier this year, it seems developers are finding new ways to use the Dreamcast once again. It is great to see other genres making their way to the system in recent years. I will, of course, keep you up to date on the games progress and hope to bring a review as soon as I can.
