Anything with “8-Bit” in its title is sure to grab our attention at Retro Faith, so the release of a demo of 8-Bit Adventures 2 would seem to be right up our street , indeed, we previously reported on the announcement of the game. In a new interview, developer Critical Games has given some further insight into the previously PC-only game’s impending release on consoles.
When asked why the sequel was coming to consoles following the original title being released only on PC, developers Critical Games said, “after such a successful launch on PC, I wanted to satisfy fan demand for a console release. Consoles are the home of the JRPG genre and an ideal place to experience the epic story of 8-Bit Adventures 2.”
When discussing the influences on the game, Critical games said “Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IX and X, and Mother 3 were our biggest inspirations – and this can be felt in our storytelling & battle mechanics. But we applied lessons from across the JRPG genre.
A free demo of the game is now available now for Xbox, with versions for Switch and PlayStation to follow soon. The full game is scheduled for release on 16th October 2024. Look out for our review before the release date.
