Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel divebombing onto consoles this month

News from retro publisher Ratalakia Games is Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel is swooping to Switch, Xbox and PlayStation on 6th October 2024. We’ve been following this story closely at Retro Faith, mostly due to our obsession with anthropomorphic platformers. This marks the third title in Sunsoft’s 16-bit platformer series following Aero the Acro-Bat and Aero the Acro-Bat 2.

Zero is a character from the first two games who was mostly a henchman of the main boss Edgar Ektor, but was given his own game in 1994 that was released on Mega Drive and SNES. The story follows Zero during the events of the second game, Aero the Acro-Bat 2. His girlfriend has sent a letter explaining that Jacques Le Sheets has begun melting their home and he needs to come back to stop him.

The game plays very similar to Aero’s titles with Zero using diving techniques as well as other familiar moves such as throwing objects. We’ve already reviewed the first two games and will be looking to do the same for this one.
