We love our side-scrolling beat’ em ups here at Retro Faith, and at least one of us is more than a bit partial to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. So it should go without saying that we’re fans of Shredder’s Revenge, Dotemu’s 2D beat ‘em that successfully captures the essence of Konami’s arcade classic, but mutated for a modern audience.
The game has already received substantial DLC in the form of the Dimension Shellshock update, which brought samurai rabbit Usagi Yojimbo and Karai, Shredder’s granddaughter, to the game along with new modes.
And now, developer Tribute Games and publisher Dotemu are adding even more fan favourites as playable characters via the new Radical Reptiles DLC ,which brings Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa to the game.
For the uninitiated, Mondo Gecko is “a radical surfer and trusty friend to the Turtles who dashes around while dealing righteous damage with his skateboard,” while Mona Lisa is “a physics student turned reptilian rapscallion who dishes out wickedly cool attacks by lobbing her chemical concoctions as projectiles.”
Sounds bodacious, right, dudes? The Radical Reptiles DLC is available from today for just £3.29.
And even if you don’t want to shell out for the Radical Reptiles DLC, another free update is shredding your way for Shredder’s Revenge. This is in the form of a “rockin’ Remix mode” for the game’s soundtrack. The new mode boasts remixes from guest collaborators within the chiptune scene and beyond. “These fresh cuts bring a “revitalized alternative sound” to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge.”
