Last week’s Arcade Archives release took us on a visit to Battle City, as we previously reported. And this week we’re being taken to the no less violent-sounding Crime City! Crime City is a Taito side-scrolling shoot ‘em up originally released back in 1989.
Crime City is a spin-off from Taito’s considerably better-known1988 coin-op Chase HQ, but the on-foot side-scrolling action bears more of a resemblance to the likes of Namco’s 1986 arcade hit Rolling Thunder than it does to its own vehicle-based parent title.
As ever, we applaud Hamster Corp. for making these lost arcade titles easily available to modern gamers. Crime City is out now on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. It’d be a crime to not experience this lost arcade gem while you can!
