Indie developer Mega Cat Studios are readying the launch of their latest title, The Meating, they describe the new game as “a mythological pixel adventure”.
In the game, players will “step into the hooves of Kon, an ex-gladiator minotaur who has been reborn as a ghostly bovine with a bone to pick. Guided by the merciful eyes of Gyros, the Greek God of Meat, Kon is on a quest to reclaim his prime-cut physique and seek justice for his untimely demise. You’ll headbutt, dodge, and puzzle your way through labyrinthine levels while collecting scattered meat pieces to beef up your spectral self.” It says here.
The NES and Game Boy Advance versions of The Meating will be available directly from Mega Cat Studios from 29th August 2024, with the Nintendo Switch version launching digitally on the Nintendo eshop.
If you haven’t previously encountered Mega Cat Studios, they describe themselves as follows: “a creative-first video game developer with a retro ethos and a culture of innovation. Based in Pittsburgh, PA, we craft modern classics that pay homage to the golden era of gaming, complete with limited edition collectibles for the die-hard enthusiasts. We believe that pixel art, like a fine cut of meat, should be savored, and that gaming should be as hearty and satisfying as a well-cooked steak.”
We’ve really enjoyed some of their previous titles, so this one should be a really meaty treat!
