Scottish Games Week 2024 was meant to be taking place in cities across the country but the organisers have pushed the plans back to next year. Funding seems to be the main reason for the delay with this years political upheaval causing delayed payments from government.
The delay in putting on the event gives time to find more sponsors and funding. The aim is to put on a bigger and better programme of events than possible now. Scottish Games Week has sent out a call for help focused on hearing from individuals for volunteering to main sponsorship from big organisations.
In a press statement Brian Baglow, the founder and director of Scottish Games Week, said: “Disruption across the videogames ecosystem and political landscape in 2024 means that ongoing delays in funding and support from government and industry have been significant. Rather than risk delivering something substandard, or risk the future of the event and the organisation, we’re hitting pause in 2024. We will bring Scottish Games Week back in 2025, bigger better and more creative than ever.”
