Boulder Dash Tunneling Up onto Modern platforms this Year

The classic subterranean puzzle game Boulder Dash is getting ready to resurface later this year, as the original game celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Boulder Dash was first released for Atari’s 8-bit home computers and the Commodore 64 in 1984 before being ported to a slew of other formats, including most 8-bit home computers, NES, Game Boy, and even arcades.

And now, the game’s mining hero Rockford is set to return in ‘Boulder Dash 40th Anniversary’, which will be released for Steam, Switch, Xbox and PlayStation 4 this autumn/winter.

The new version of the game will be published by Munich-based publisher BBG Entertainment.

‘Boulder Dash 40th Anniversary’ is set to receive its world premiere at this year’s Gamescom event in Cologne, which runs from 21st to 25th August.
