The Evercade Game of the Month programme runs from April to December each year, with a new full game made available to Evercade VS and Evercade EXP (and soon Evercade Alpha) users simply by updating their console’s system software. The game then remains playable until the system software is updated again.

The games from the Evercade Game of the Month programme are then compiled on the following year’s Indie Heroes cartridge. Past games have included some real doozies, such as the superb retro arcade platformer Donut Dodo, which we previously reviewed on Nintendo Switch.

This month’s Evercade Game of the Month offering is the fifth of 2024 and is now available to download. The game is a shepherding-themed tower defence game titled Collie Defense that was originally developed for Game Boy Advance following a successful Kickstarter campaign.

So, if you ever longed for a game based on One Man and his Dog, the August 2024 Evercade Game of the Month is well worth rounding up onto your Evercade system!
