We reviewed the first Shadow Gangs title in June 2022 and now a new game in the series has been announced. Shadow Gangs Zero is a prequel to the original and is being developed for NeoGeo, Megadrive, Dreamcast, PS5, Switch, Xbox, and Steam. The game is being crowdfunded on Kickstarter with an expected release date in early 2026 for the Dreamcast and Mega Drive versions while the Neo Geo version is expected a few months earlier.

According to the information on the Kickstarter page, “Shadow Gangs Zero is designed to provide a deeper and more engaging experience.” After listening to feedback on the original game, developer JKM Corps has made significant enhancements to the gameplay formula, including removing time limits, faster restarts and longer levels.

The first game was excellent so we look forward to seeing how Zero develops over the next year or so. The crowdfunding campaign has already reached nearly £30k in its first 24 hours and looks set to be another successful release for JKM Corps. The game will be published by PixelHeart which has lots of experience producing new games for old consoles.
