Bitmap Books has announced that its latest book, Run ‘n’ Gun: A History of On-Foot Shooters, is now up for sale. The comprehensive book covers 40 years of the genre and consists of retrospectives on over 300 games, such as Gunstar Heroes and Metal Slug, across almost 500 pages. It includes contributions from Chris Scullion, Graeme Mason and Sega Lord X.

The book can be ordered in two varieties, the standard edition and a collectors edition, with both presented in the same hardback cover that includes bookmark ribbons. The collector’s edition adds a novel case to house the book shaped like an ammo box. Both versions include a complementary PDF.
